Narendra Rai Srivastav - Biography Narendra Rai is not only an artist but also a very talented poet. His poetry and paintings influence each other in various ways. Narendra Rai depicts the energy and exuberance in the Indian rural life through the richness of their costumes. Be it the rich or poor, they try to present themselves in full colour. Most of his subjects have sandalwood paste on their foreheads, implying that they maybe Gods or humans. He also does Tanjore work which is quite radical and breaks many rules of the Tanjore style, especially with the costumes.
